My name is Ana and I have a story to tell just like everyone else. I was born in beautiful Colombia South America and moved to South Florida when I was very young. I was raised in paradise, minus the occasional hurricanes. I graduated from Broward College with an AA in Sociology and a BS in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University.
The next 10 years were filled with many ups and downs as all lives are and the greatest thing to come out of it all were my 2 children. In the midst of a lot of personal struggle I found a love for running. It’s more love/hate but making the choice to complete a 5K started a reaction of a series events that I would impact every area of my life. For 10 years I had allowed fear to rule my world and the tiny act of believing in myself despite all my other previously failed attempts ignited my passion for life and courage to face my deepest fears.
I went on to complete that 5K, then 10K, then half marathon, then a triathlon. That gave me the courage to go for promotions, opportunities, relationships, and adventures that always seemed out of my reach. Eventually I had to conquer my body positive issues. My realization was that I was allowing a piece of me to hold me back from being 100% free to be me. When did I become my own enemy? I had to make peace with the body that had done so much for me and that peace filled gratitude led me to even more love and adventure. Me, my scars, my stretchmarks, my stretched skin, and I. All working together in a way I never thought possible.
After 12 years in corporate America and a big move to Houston, TX I began to explore my own talents, strengths, and passions. I spent years helping others achieve their goals as a Human Resource Director and Public Speaker. Now I am taking all of that knowledge and started PowerToPrevail. At first it was just another blog until more and more women began to reach out to me privately asking for help. I quickly realized my research, my journey, and my gifts could help others.
I look forward to the evolution of this project and hope that I can help you along on your own journey towards loving the skin you’re in by realizing the power you have within. xoxo
